Robie was born in Springfield, New Hampshire, in 1834. He married Mary Ann Loveren (Louverin) and lived in Canaan, NH, where he enlisted in the 15th New Hampshire Regiment when it was formed in 1862. After the siege of Port Hudson, LA, Robie became ill and died of disease in Memphis, TN, on 3 August 1863.
